Uber Sacked 20 Employees after Sexual Harassment Charges


Uber, the world's most reputable and top ride-hailing company. The company headquarters at San Francisco, USA sacked 20 of its employees including senior executives as a result of more than 200 workplace sexual harassment and other complaints by a law firm. Uber got services of Bozoma Saint John, Apple marketing executive to work as chief brand officer in order to revive its corporate image and recover its stained brand name. Travis Kalanick, the CEO of Uber said in a statement "Boz has a long track record of successfully creating emotional connections between people and the products they love."

Susan Fowler, a former engineer at Uber reported previous year a sexual harassment with her to human resources department of Uber but her complaint was disregarded Uber has still not issued any official statement on this issue as mentioned in the finding of Perkins Coie report. A report on Uber's culture by former attorney general Eric Holder is due out next Tuesday and release of this report will be followed by more such strict action against the accused employees.

In an all-hands meeting of 12,000 employees held on Tuesday at San Francisco office a mechanism was created for present and ex-employees to launch complains and 57 more under investigation employees were referred to counseling and training.

Investigating officer, Wilson whose firm worked with huge tech industries said that it is not unexpected problem for a tech company having more that 14,000 employees. This case can be considered as a test-case for whole tech industry having a lot of gender discrimination and gender inequality complaints.
